Terms of Service
Effective: 12 June 2026 · Governing law: New South Wales, Australia
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a legally binding agreement between you and Leximo Writing (“we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account or using the platform, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must read and agree to these Terms on your behalf before you use the platform.
1. The platform
Leximo Writing is an AI-assisted educational writing platform for Australian school students in Years 1–12. It includes the following features:
- Writing Forge — AI-generated writing topics, planning assistance, and essay evaluation.
- Word Power — vocabulary building through word sets and AI-evaluated sentence challenges.
- The Gauntlet — timed mock exam simulations modelled on NAPLAN, ICAS, Selective, and Scholarship writing tasks.
- Style Studio — AI-powered literary device detection and writing improvement coaching.
- Arena (Leaderboard) — an opt-in competitive leaderboard ranked by XP across each feature.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 6 years of age to use the platform. Students under 13 must have express parental or guardian consent. By registering, you represent that all information you provide is accurate.
Accounts are created via Google or Facebook OAuth. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your linked social account. You may not share your account with another person or create multiple accounts for the same person.
3. Credits and payments
Certain AI features consume Credits. Credits are purchased in bundles through our payment partner Stripe:
- Starter — 100 Credits for $4.99 AUD
- Value — 200 Credits for $8.99 AUD
- Power — 500 Credits for $21.99 AUD
- Extreme — 1,000 Credits for $39.99 AUD
Prices are in Australian dollars and include GST. We reserve the right to change prices with 14 days' notice. Credits are deducted when you use AI features (e.g. essay evaluation, plan analysis, sentence challenges, literary device detection). Credits already consumed are non-refundable. Unused purchased Credits expire 12 months from the date of purchase. You may request a refund of unconsumed Credits within 14 days of purchase, subject to Australian Consumer Law rights that cannot be excluded.
Payment details are handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store your card information. By making a purchase you also agree to Stripe's Terms of Service.
4. AI-generated content
Writing topics, plans, feedback, scores, and literary device analyses are generated by Google Gemini. AI outputs are for educational guidance only and may occasionally contain errors. They do not constitute a qualified educational assessment. We make no representation that AI scores correlate with results achieved in any external examination.
You acknowledge that AI responses may vary for similar inputs, and that the platform is a learning tool, not a guarantee of academic outcomes.
5. User content
All writing you submit (“User Content”) remains your intellectual property. By submitting User Content you grant Leximo Writing a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to: (a) transmit the text to our AI provider for analysis; and (b) store the submission and its associated feedback in your account history. We will never publish your writing publicly without your explicit written consent.
You are responsible for ensuring your submissions do not infringe third-party copyright. Do not paste published works for evaluation without appropriate attribution.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Submit content that is offensive, abusive, discriminatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise inappropriate for a school setting.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or exploit the platform or its AI outputs.
- Use automated tools or bots to interact with the platform.
- Attempt to circumvent credit deductions or tamper with XP records.
- Share your account or allow others to use your account.
- Upload malicious files or otherwise interfere with platform security.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules, without notice where the breach is serious.
7. Leaderboard (Arena)
Participation in the Arena leaderboard is entirely voluntary. When you opt in, your display name and XP totals are visible to other logged-in users. You may opt out at any time; your entry will be removed immediately. We do not display email addresses or other personal contact information on the leaderboard.
8. XP and gamification
XP (experience points) are earned by completing platform activities. XP has no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for Credits, cash, or any other benefit outside the platform. We reserve the right to adjust XP values, daily caps, and level thresholds at any time. XP resets daily at midnight UTC for the purpose of daily goal tracking; your accumulated total XP is never reduced.
9. Intellectual property
The Leximo Writing platform, brand, word sets, literary device database, curriculum-aligned topic library, source code, and all original content are the intellectual property of Leximo Writing. Nothing in these Terms transfers any platform IP to you. You may not reproduce, modify, or commercially exploit any part of the platform without written permission.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
The platform is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of AI feedback, and uninterrupted availability. Scheduled maintenance and unplanned outages may occur.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Australian Consumer Law, our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the platform is limited to the greater of: (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim; or (b) $10 AUD. We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or special loss. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
12. Termination
You may close your account at any time by contacting support@leximowriting.com. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if the platform is discontinued. On termination, your right to use the platform ceases immediately and unused Credits are forfeited, unless termination is caused by our breach of these Terms.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales. You may also have rights to lodge a complaint with the ACCC or the OAIC under Australian Consumer Law and the Privacy Act respectively.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
